Terms of Sale
1. Scope
These terms apply to purchases made on hanseby.com. Purchases made on Amazon or Etsy follow those platforms’ own terms.
2. Prices and payment
All prices are shown in Norwegian kroner (NOK) and include VAT where applicable. Shipping costs are shown before you complete the purchase. Payment is processed securely by Stripe. We never see or store your card details. Vipps is coming soon.
3. Delivery
Printed books are printed and shipped by our print partner. Estimated delivery times are shown at checkout. Digital products are available immediately after payment.
4. Right of withdrawal (physical products)
Under the Norwegian Cancellation Act (angrerettloven), you have 14 days from receiving the item to cancel your purchase without giving a reason. To withdraw, notify us at [email protected], then return the item within 14 days of notifying us. We refund the purchase price, including the original standard shipping cost, within 14 days of receiving your notice. We may wait until we receive the item back. You pay the return shipping cost unless the item is faulty.
5. Digital content
For digital books, read-along books, films and downloads, delivery begins immediately after purchase. By completing the purchase, you expressly agree to immediate delivery and acknowledge that the right of withdrawal then lapses (angrerettloven § 22 (n)).
6. Faults and complaints
You have the rights set out in the Norwegian Consumer Purchases Act (forbrukerkjøpsloven). If a product is faulty or damaged, contact us within a reasonable time after you discover the problem. We will offer repair, a replacement or a refund.
7. Disputes
We’ll always try to solve any issue together with you. If we can’t agree, you may contact Forbrukertilsynet or Forbrukerklageutvalget (forbrukerradet.no) or the EU online dispute platform at ec.europa.eu/odr. These terms are governed by Norwegian law.
Membership
The membership costs NOK 100 a month and gives access to all digital content in Hanseby while it is active. The first week is free. If you cancel before the free week ends, you pay nothing. After the free week, the amount is charged automatically every month until you cancel. You can cancel at any time under My account. You keep access until the end of the period you have paid for, and there is no lock-in. We’ll email you before any price change takes effect.

What we collect and why
- Account and login: Your email address, so we can send you login links and connect purchases and membership to you. The legal basis is contract.
- Orders and membership: Your name, address, email and order details. We use these to deliver your purchase and to meet accounting obligations. The legal basis is contract and legal obligation. Accounting records are kept for 5 years under the Norwegian Bookkeeping Act.
- Newsletter and “notify me”: Your email address, but only if you sign up. The legal basis is consent. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Contact: When you write to us, we keep your message so we can help you. We delete it when it’s no longer needed.
- Visit statistics: If we measure visits, we use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and does not identify individual visitors.
Children
Our games and books are made for children, but we don’t collect personal data from children. Children need no account, and there are no ads, chat or tracking. Purchases, accounts and signups are for adults only.
Who we share data with
We share data only with providers that help us run the service: Cloudflare (website and storage), Stripe (payments), Resend (login-link emails) and our print partner (printed books). They process data on our behalf under data processing agreements. Where data is transferred outside the EEA, it is protected by approved safeguards.
Your rights
You have the right to see, correct, delete or move your data, and to object to or limit how we use it. Contact us at [email protected]. You can also complain to Datatilsynet (datatilsynet.no).
Cookies
We only use cookies that are necessary for the site to work, so we don’t need to ask for consent:
- hb_s: keeps you logged in (30 days). Only set when you log in.
- hb_lang: remembers whether you chose Norwegian or English (1 year).
Your browser also remembers a few choices locally on your device, such as whether the town square sound is on and whether you read alone or listen. This is never sent to us. Stripe’s payment page may set its own necessary cookies to prevent fraud.
